Lending Zoleo to friend when Zoleo is not physically present

We wanted to lend our Zoleo to a friend, and did so, but forgot to disconnect my phone from the Zoleo before the Zoleo was taken away.  I cleared the "current app user" value on our device on the Zoleo website, and added our friend's name and cell # to the "contacts" list, but they still cannot get the app on their phone to connect to the Zoleo where they are.  We must be missing a step.  Any ideas?
