Update to the most recent version of the app from your Apple or Android App Store.

This release contains a new version of firmware. However, it is not mandatory. It is encouraged to update the firmware if you can to take advantage of new features and improvements. please refer to the link in the box below for more information on how to update the ZOLEO firmware.

**We recommend doing this from home or before heading out on a trip where you can download the app and complete the device software upgrade before you need to use the device or app.**

Automatically start Location Share+

ZOLEO device users can now use the ZOLEO app to set the ZOLEO device to automatically start a new Location Share+ session when the ZOLEO device is powered on.

Automatically starting Location Share+ avoids users from having to manually start location sharing (using the app or via the device) and no longer relies on users to remember doing so. Once enabled, simply power on the ZOLEO to begin sending location updates.

ZOLEO device users can access the feature from within the Location Share+ menu. The Location Share+ menu is accessible from the Chats tab, the “Check-In and Location Share+” thread, and from the Settings menu under “Check-In, Location & Settings”.

To enable the feature, app users must be connected to a ZOLEO device using the latest device software version, 5.0-0.

Once the ‘Start automatically’ toggle has been enabled, users will be prompted to “Start Location Share+ now?” providing the opportunity to immediately begin sending location updates. Selecting ‘No’ will enable the feature but will not begin sending location updates until the next time the device is powered on.

Note: The Location Share+ update interval set in the app applies when Location Share+ is automatically started.

Battery % in Check-In and Location Share+ updates

Check-In messages and Location Share+ updates will now include the battery life of the ZOLEO device at the time the message is sent. The battery life (in %) will be visible to both the ZOLEO device user and ZOLEO app recipients of check-in and location updates.

This enhancement brings even greater peace of mind to recipients using the ZOLEO app. Recipients can now easily determine that a ZOLEO user has stopped sending check-ins or sharing location updates as a result of the battery running flat on their ZOLEO device.

The battery life will be displayed from within the map view when viewing the location and timestamp information for Check-In or Location Share+ updates.

VoiceOver and TalkBack accessibility enhancements

The ZOLEO app has been optimized to operate with VoiceOver (for iOS) and TalkBack (for Android).

These are gesture-based accessibility screen readers that can be used to navigate the application (and smartphone) by providing audible descriptions of what’s on the screen including buttons, text, messages, navigation tabs, menu options, and more. All core features and functions of the ZOLEO app have been optimized to provide intuitive feedback when these accessibility features are enabled.

Note: VoiceOver (for iOS) and TalkBack (for Android) are enabled in the native OS settings within the Accessibility menu of your smartphone or tablet.
