A recent update to the Android 14 operating system (OS) has introduced a Bluetooth connectivity issue for some smartphones when paired with the ZOLEO device.
This issue arises when the Android Power Saving mode is enabled. The update enforces stricter adherence to the Bluetooth 5.2 specification, which can create compatibility problems with devices that use earlier versions of Bluetooth, such as the ZOLEO.
As a result, you may experience frequent Bluetooth disconnects, particularly when your device transitions from cellular data to satellite coverage, affecting all ZOLEO features.
To resolve this issue, we recommend disabling the Power Saving mode on your Android smartphone, which will help maintain a stable connection with your ZOLEO device. You can disable the Power Saving mode in two ways:
-
Quick Settings Panel
- Swipe down from the top of your screen once or twice (depending on your phone) to access the quick settings panel.
- Find the battery saver icon, which usually looks like a battery with a "saver" symbol or displays "Battery saver."
- Tap the battery saver icon to turn it off. The icon should no longer be highlighted.
-
Settings Menu
- Open the Settings app by locating the gear icon in your app drawer or swiping down from the notification bar and tapping the settings icon.
- Scroll down and find the Battery settings. Depending on your device, this might be listed as "Battery," "Battery & device care," or something similar.
- In the battery settings, locate the Battery saver or Power saving mode option. Tap the toggle switch to turn it off.
