To access the latest features and improvements, update the ZOLEO app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
This release includes a new firmware version, but updating your device firmware is optional. However, we recommend updating to take full advantage of the enhancements. Please refer to the link in the box below for more information on how to update the ZOLEO firmware.

What's New in This Version
Improved Location Accuracy
We've improved the location accuracy for Check-in, Location Share+, and SOS location reports. In addition to improving how the ZOLEO device acquires your GPS location, it also now compares location data from both the device and your Bluetooth connected smartphone, selecting the most precise source for even greater accuracy.
Note: To allow the ZOLEO device to check your Bluetooth connected smartphone for location, you must provide the ZOLEO app with the necessary permission. See article Improving Location Accuracy with Your ZOLEO Device for additional details.
Background App Permissions
This update improves the Android app’s ability to run in the background, ensuring a more seamless experience when using your ZOLEO device. By providing permission for the ZOLEO app to run in the background on your smartphone, it allows the app to perform essential tasks, such as stay connected to your ZOLEO device, deliver new message notifications, and provide access to location by preventing the system from putting the app to sleep while on standby or switching between apps. Here's how you can provide permission:
- New installations: On first launch, you’ll receive a one-time prompt to allow the app to always run in the background.
- App updates: If you haven’t already granted this permission, you’ll see the same one-time prompt after updating.
- Managing permissions: If you decline the prompt, you can adjust the setting later in your phone’s Settings → ZOLEO App → Battery Optimization → Unrestricted.
- Your preference is saved: Future updates will retain your chosen setting ensuring for a continued seamless experience.
Note: Android users still have full control over swipe-killing or force closing the app when not in use for outdoors adventure or safety at work.
ZOLEO Service Alerts Chat and ZOLEO Usage Alerts Chat
We’ve added two new dedicated chat threads in the app to keep you informed and provide an improved experience.
ZOLEO Service Alerts Chat
- Used by ZOLEO to communicate service-related updates (maintenance, outages, etc.).
- Replies are automatically forwarded to our Customer Experience Team as a new ticket.
- You can reply for up to 72 hours before the chat becomes inactive.
ZOLEO Usage Alerts Chat
- Provides notifications about usage and top-up bundles.
- You can reply directly to add a top-up bundle.

SOS Test Enhancement
We are also introducing an update to the way you schedule your SOS tests. With this release, you will now see an option to request an SOS test in the Schedule SOS Test section in the SOS options menu, giving you the ability to request an SOS test by automatically selecting that option. Here's how it works:
- Open the ZOLEO App and go to the SOS tab.
- Tap the three-dot menu (top-right corner).
- Select Schedule SOS Test.
- Choose Request SOS Test
- Confirm you would like to proceed and your request is automatically submitted to Global Rescue.
Note: It can take up to 5 minutes for Global Rescue to authorize your request. Follow the on-screen instructions and only proceed with your test once Global Rescue has advised.
