To access the latest features and improvements, update the ZOLEO app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

This release doesn't include a new firmware version, and it isn't mandatory. However, it is encouraged to update to the latest version of the app if you can, to take advantage of new features and improvements.

**We recommend doing this from home or before heading out on a trip, where you can download the app and complete the device software upgrade before you need to use the device or app.**

What's New in This Version

New Device Linking Process

This release makes it easier to connect your ZOLEO device to the app for the first time, after sharing your device with others or after reinstalling. 

What's Changed:

  • The ZOLEO tab found in the tab bar (or bottom navigation menu) has been labelled Connect.

  • Tapping Connect expands the new Connection Status Bar, walking you through each step to link your device to the mobile app. This is also where you'll find important status information related to your device after you've successfully connected.

Note: Users who do not own a ZOLEO device can hide the Connection Status Bar. To do this, go into the ZOLEO App > Open the Settings menu > Under "Device" > Connection Status Bar > Toggle it off to hide the bar. 

   

Persistent Satellite Signal Status

The status of your satellite signal now persists in the status bar, whether your device is transmitting or in standby between message checks.

What's Changed:

  • Signal strength is always shown in the device status bar.
  • Green bars indicate an available signal. 
  • Grey bars give better context when the signal is weak.
       
  • While the device is on standby and conserving battery power between message checks, the app shows a new icon and tooltip explaining your ZOLEO's behavior. 

New "Waiting for Satellite Signal" Alert

When the satellite signal is weak, unavailable, or message delivery is taking longer than expected, the app now provides a satellite signal alert.

What to expect:

  • A "Waiting for Satellite Signal" alert will be displayed.
  • The alert includes tips to improve the signal strength, such as repositioning the device and waiting for a satellite to cross overhead.
  • It disappears automatically once the message is sent.

  • The app remembers your preference for the alert, whether expanded or collapsed, for subsequent alerts and a smoother experience.

Refreshed Message Status Icons

We've updated the message status icons shown on the Chats tab and in your conversation threads to make them easier to see and understand.

What's Improved:

  • Icons are now larger and adapt to your device's font size settings.
  • Better visual distinction between Sending, Sent, Delivered, and Not Sent statuses.
  • More consistent experience across all conversations, including App-to-app, SMS and email, Location Share+, Check-In, Medical Assist, and Response Agent conversations.
