ZOLEO allows you to obtain weather forecasts for your current location or any other location, helping you plan your adventures more effectively. Keep in mind that requesting a weather forecast over satellite uses one message per request.

Requirements For Using Weather
To use the weather feature with ZOLEO, ensure you have the following:
- A ZOLEO device with an active subscription.
- The ZOLEO App is set up on your mobile device.
- An active link/Bluetooth connection between the ZOLEO app and the ZOLEO device.
- Offline maps downloaded for areas you'll be traveling to that are outside of cellular coverage.
Note: The ZOLEO weather service does not provide marine-specific weather forecast information such as wave conditions.
Who Provides Weather for ZOLEO?
Weather forecasts are provided by Xweather, which provides:
- Global hyperlocal weather forecast data.
- Location-specific (latitude/longitude) weather forecasts within 100 meters of spatial resolution.
- Reliable data sourced from trusted organizations, including the National Weather Service, Environment Canada, the UK Met Office, and the Australian Bureau of Meteorology, utilizing industry-standard forecast models for comprehensive global coverage.
How To Request a Weather Forecast
Before requesting a weather forecast, ensure that your ZOLEO device is linked and connected via Bluetooth to the ZOLEO app. Check this article to view how to link with the ZOLEO device.
Be aware that requesting weather over satellite may take a few minutes to load.
Request Weather for your Current Location
- Open the ZOLEO App and tap the weather icon (sun/cloud logo) at the bottom.
- When prompted, tap Use Current Location.
- The weather forecast for your current location will be requested and displayed once ready.
Note: If a forecast is already displayed, tap the back arrow at the top left to go back. A prompt will appear asking if you want to request a new forecast—tap Yes to proceed.
Tip: To keep a record of your previous weather request, take a screenshot before going back.
Request Weather for a Different Location
- Open the ZOLEO App and tap the weather icon (sun/cloud logo) at the bottom.
- When prompted, tap Select a Different Location.
- If you see a prompt explaining how to select a location, tap Select Location. If you prefer not to see this prompt again, select Do not show this again.
- You can select a location using either of the following methods:
- Dragging the Map: Move the pin to your desired location.
- Entering Coordinates: Input the latitude and longitude in Decimal Degrees format.
Note: While connected to the Internet via cellular data or Wi-Fi, you can also search for a location by name.
- After selecting the location, tap the download icon (⭳) to the right of the search bar. The weather forecast will be requested and displayed when ready.
Note: If a forecast is already displayed, tap the back arrow at the top left to go back. A prompt will ask if you want to request a new forecast—tap Yes to proceed. To keep a record of your previous weather request, take a screenshot before you go back.
Tip: Offline maps are required for high-resolution map details outside cellular coverage. Download an offline map of the area you'll be traveling to while connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data, or request a forecast while still within coverage, and an offline map will be downloaded for you.

Refreshing a Weather Forecast
While viewing the forecast results, tap the Refresh button (↻) at the top right to update the weather information for the same location.
Verifying the Location Used for the Forecast
To check the location associated with the forecast, tap the place name displayed in the results. A map with the location pin and coordinates will be shown.
Settings for Weather Forecasts
Change Wind Speed Units
You have the option to switch between different units for displaying wind speed in the weather forecast. You can choose to view it in miles per hour (mph) or kilometers per hour (km/h).
iOS:
- Go to Settings > General > Language & Region > Region.
- Select a country that uses either kilometers or miles per hour based on your preference.
Android:
- Go to Settings > General Management > Language.
- Set it to a country that uses either kilometers or miles per hour.
Note: Changes may take a moment to apply, and you might need to restart the app.
Change Temperature and Time Format
Temperature and Measurement System system settings can also be changed on this screen to further adjust the units of measure displayed in the weather forecast.
iOS:

Temperature Units & Measurement System:
- Open Settings.
- Go to General > Language & Region > Temperature to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
- Go to General > Language & Region > Measurement system to choose the system you prefer.

Time Format:
- Open Settings.
- Go to General > Date & Time.
- Toggle 24-Hour Time to enable or disable the 24-hour format.
Android:

Temperature Units:
- Open Settings.
- Go to General Management > Language and adjust the measurement system based on your country.

- Open Settings.
- Go to General Management > Date and time.
- Toggle Use 24-hour format to switch between 12-hour and 24-hour formats.
