The Android operating system offers various tools to manage notifications and power savings, which can sometimes interfere with ZOLEO users receiving new message notifications. If you notice that the ZOLEO app only provides message notifications when it's opened, follow the steps below to resolve the issue.
Note: These instructions have been tested on Android version 10. Older versions may have similar settings but with a different layout.
Solution 1: Adjust ZOLEO notifications
- Open the Settings app on your Android device.
- Select Apps.
- Tap the search icon (magnifying glass) and type "ZOLEO."
- Select ZOLEO from the search results.
- Tap Notifications and make sure the following options are enabled:
- Show notifications
- Other
- New Messages
- ZOLEO Service
- App icon badges
- Retest the messaging feature. If notifications still do not appear, proceed to Solution 2.
Solution 2: Disable battery optimization
- Open the Android device's Settings menu
- Tap on Apps
- Tap the search icon (magnifying glass) and search for ZOLEO, tap on ZOLEO when it appears.
- Tap on Battery
- Tap on Optimize Battery Usage
- Tap on Apps not Optimized, then tap All
- Scroll all the way down to ZOLEO and then tap it to disable battery optimization
- Retest messaging again. Notifications should now be working.
