Downloading offline maps
ZOLEO users can download offline maps of a destination to view check-in messages and location updates on a detailed map in the ZOLEO app while not connected to WiFi or Internet.
It is highly recommended to download offline maps for upcoming destinations before leaving for travel so map data is available in the ZOLEO app regardless of your location and coverage.

Mapbox Outdoors
ZOLEO uses Mapbox Outdoors for mapping check-in messages, location updates, and displaying the Weather map in the ZOLEO app. Mapbox Outdoors is a topographic map with curated tilesets and specialized styling tailored to hiking, biking, and the most adventurous use cases. Managing your download preferences for offline maps
- Open the ZOLEO app on your smartphone or tablet.
- Tap the Settings menu (gear icon).
- Select Check-in, Location & SOS Settings under Device.
- Select Manage Offline Maps.
- For iOS, select Download Preferences.
- For Android, tap the Download Preferences drop-down.
- Options for downloading using Wi-Fi only or Cellular and Wi-Fi will be presented. Select the desired option.
- Selecting Wi-Fi only will only allow you to download maps when connected to a Wi-Fi network.
- Selecting Cellular and Wi-Fi will allow you to download maps when connected to Wi-Fi or your cellular data network.
Downloading offline maps for use while remote
- Open the ZOLEO app on your smartphone or tablet.
- Tap the Settings tab (bottom right in the navigation bar).
- Select Check-in, Location & SOS Settings under Device.
- Select Manage Offline Maps followed by Download Maps.
- A map with a blue tile will appear. Pan and zoom the map to the desired location and place the blue tile over the desired area you would like to download. When ready, press Download Offline Maps.
- Tip: Use the zoom control on the lower right of the screen to change the size of the map tile coverage area.
- Next, give your offline map area a name and then press OK.
- Your download will begin and will appear with a blue checkmark once the download has been completed.
- Repeat steps 5-7 if additional map areas are required.
- Once the desired map areas have been downloaded, they are now ready for offline use.
Managing and viewing your downloaded offline maps
- Open the ZOLEO app on your smartphone or tablet.
- Tap the Settings tab (bottom right in the navigation bar).
- Select Check-in, Location & SOS Settings under Device.
- Select Manage Offline Maps followed by Downloaded Offline Maps.
- A list of your downloaded maps will appear.
- To view the downloaded map area, tap any of the items in the list.
- To delete a downloaded map area, swipe any map name to the left, then select Delete.
- Tip: When viewing locations while in internet coverage, maps can be occasionally downloaded to your ZOLEO app automatically. These are small downloads and don’t take up much space but can be cleared by swiping left on the Map Cache entry in the list and selecting Delete.
