Sharing your ZOLEO device is easy. This article will walk you through the steps to disconnect from your device and share it with a friend or family member.
Step 1: Disconnect from Your ZOLEO Device
To allow someone else to connect to your ZOLEO, you’ll first need to disconnect it from your ZOLEO App. Follow these steps to disconnect:
Navigate to the settings menu (gear Icon). | Select Disconnect From ZOLEO Device. | Confirm the disconnect by answering Yes to the popup message. |
Please keep in mind, that disconnecting from the device means you will no longer have access to SMS and email via the app. You’ll still be able to use app-to-app messaging, but SMS and email will only work when you're connected to the ZOLEO device.
If you try to send a message and receive a prompt to "Connect to your ZOLEO Device," you can resolve this by going to your ZOLEO App Settings > Follow-Me Messaging and disabling Follow-Me SMS & Email.
Step 2: Sharing the Device
After you've disconnected, the person you’re sharing the device with needs to download the ZOLEO app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. They’ll need to create or log into their ZOLEO account (see details at How to Install the ZOLEO App).
Once they've set up the app, they can follow the usual steps to connect to the device. Once they are connected to your device, the ZOLEO SMS number and ZOLEO e-mail address will be linked to their app, this is the Follow-Me feature, which you see each time you link to a new ZOLEO device.
Step 3: Managing SOS & Check-In Contacts
If the person borrowing your ZOLEO device requires different SOS and Check-In contacts, you can easily update these through your MyZOLEO account. For detailed instructions on how to manage these contacts, please refer to the article: ZOLEO SOS & Check-In Contacts.
Important Notes:
- Your messages will remain on your app's Chats screen even though you're no longer connected to the ZOLEO device.
- The new user won't be able to see your previous messages. However, they will start receiving all new SMS and email messages sent to the ZOLEO SMS and email address.
- Remember, app-to-app messages are always delivered directly to your ZOLEO App profile and won’t appear on the new user’s app.
- Please be aware that any satellite messaging usage while the device is shared will be linked to your ZOLEO monthly plan, and any associated charges will be billed to your account.
