How to Cancel an SOS

This article explains how to cancel an SOS alert using your ZOLEO device or the ZOLEO app.

These instructions apply to both the ZOLEO 1000 and the ZOLEO 1500. The steps differ slightly depending on which device you are using.

Cancel an SOS Using Your ZOLEO Device

ZOLEO 1000

1. Ensure the ZOLEO device is facing up with a clear view of the sky.
2. Lift the SOS protective cover.
3. Press & hold the SOS button for 5 seconds.
   • The device will emit a short ascending tone, indicating the cancellation process has started.
   • The LEDs on the device will begin to SPIN GREEN (circle pattern).
   • Important: Wait for the SOS cancellation to be sent.
4. When the SOS cancellation has been successfully sent.
   • The ZOLEO device will emit a positive ascending tone.
   • The LEDs on the device will no longer spin green and will return to default, indicating SOS has ended.

Note: If an SOS alert was started accidentally, you can cancel it during the 10-second countdown by pressing and holding the SOS button for 5 seconds. The SOS alert will not be sent to the emergency response coordination provider.

After the 10-second countdown has ended, you must wait until the SOS alert has been successfully sent before cancelling it from the device. You can also cancel the SOS alert from the ZOLEO app at any time.

ZOLEO 1500

1. Ensure the ZOLEO device is facing up with a clear view of the sky.
2. Lift the SOS protective cover.
3. Wait until the SOS alert has been successfully sent and the SOS LED is DOUBLE-BLINKING RED, indicating that the SOS alert is active.
4. Press & hold the SOS button for 8 seconds.
   • The LEDs on the device will begin to SPIN GREEN (circle pattern).
   • Important: Wait for the SOS cancellation to be sent.
5. When the SOS cancellation has been successfully sent:
   • The ZOLEO 1500 will emit a positive ascending tone.
   • The LEDs on the device will stop SPINNING GREEN and return to their normal state, indicating that the SOS alert has ended.

Note: Unlike the ZOLEO, the ZOLEO 1500 does not include a 10-second countdown before sending an SOS alert. Once the SOS button is pressed, the SOS alert begins immediately. 

You must wait until the SOS alert has been successfully sent before you can cancel it from the device.

Cancel an SOS Using Your ZOLEO App

1. Ensure the ZOLEO device is face up with a clear view of the sky and is paired to the ZOLEO App on your smartphone.
2. In the app, navigate to the SOS tab (bottom menu) or tap on the SOS Banner.
3. Tap the CANCEL SOS button.
4. A confirmation pop-up will appear; confirm the cancellation to proceed.
5. Once the SOS cancellation has been successfully sent, the SOS Banner will show SOS ENDED.

Note: When the SOS alert is cancelled, the chat session with the SOS Response Agent will end.
