Messaging ZOLEO from Other Satellite Communicators

ZOLEO can be used to send and receive messages from other satellite communications devices. This article details which devices ZOLEO can message with and any limitations. Please note, improvements will be made in future updates. 

• Garmin inReach
• Globalstar SPOT X
• Iridium Devices (9505A, 9555, Extreme)
• Iridium GO!
• IsatPhone Pro & IsatPhone 2

Garmin inReach

inReach SMS

Status: Fully functional

Garmin inReach devices may send SMS messages to the ZOLEO device dedicated SMS number by using the international format (i.e. +1(area code)(phone number)), and the ZOLEO device can reply to the SMS message. Important note: The Garmin inReach does not have a dedicated SMS phone number, so it must initiate the first message to the ZOLEO device for a two-way SMS conversation.

inReach Email

Status: Partial functionality

Garmin inReach devices may send an email message to the @zoleo.com email address. ZOLEO is unable to respond to the message for two reasons: 1) inReach devices do not have a dedicated email address and 2) inReach email messages rely on a reply link that is inaccessible to ZOLEO users. Email communication with inReach devices is not recommended.

Globalstar SPOT X

SPOT X SMS

Status: Fully functional

The SPOT X is able to message the ZOLEO device's dedicated SMS number using the international format (i.e. +1(area code)(phone number)). ZOLEO users are able to reply as well because the SPOT X utilizes a dedicated SMS number. This method of communication is two-way. ZOLEO device users are able to message SPOT X devices directly at any time using the format +1(area code)(phone number).

Iridium Devices (9505A , 9555, Extreme)

Iridium SMS

Status: Partial functionality

Iridium Phones are able to send an SMS message to the ZOLEO device's dedicated SMS number using the international format (i.e. +1(area code)(phone number)). At this time, ZOLEO is unable to reply to these messages. This is expected to change with future updates.  ZOLEO can send a new message to Iridium phone numbers using the format +8816xxxxxxxx.

Iridium Email-to-SMS

Status: Not functional

Iridium phones are not able to email ZOLEO devices. ZOLEO devices are unable to send emails to Iridium phones.

Iridium GO!

Iridium GO! SMS

Status: Partial functionality

Iridium GO! devices are able to send an SMS message to the ZOLEO device dedicated SMS number using the international format (i.e. +1(area code)(phone number)). At this time, ZOLEO is unable to reply to these messages. This is expected to change with future updates. The ZOLEO can send a new message to Iridium phone numbers using the format +8816xxxxxxxx.

Iridium GO! Email

Status: Fully functional

The @myiridium.net email address used by Iridium GO! is able to send emails to the @zoleo.com email address. ZOLEO is able to both reply and send new email messages to the GO!

IsatPhone Pro & IsatPhone 2

IsatPhone SMS

Status: Partial functionality

The IsatPhone Pro and IsatPhone 2 are able to send an SMS message to the ZOLEO device dedicated SMS number using the international format (i.e. +1(area code)(phone number)). ZOLEO is unable to reply to these messages. ZOLEO is not able to send an SMS message to the IsatPhone Pro or IsatPhone 2 at this time.

Inmarsat SMS-to-Email

Status: Partial functionality

Inmarsat phones are unable to send an email to ZOLEO devices at this time. ZOLEO devices are able to email the IsatPhone models by using the format +870xxxxxxxxx@msg.inmarsat.com.
