What Is Medical Assist?
ZOLEO Medical Assist is an advisory service provided by Global Rescue. It gives ZOLEO subscribers 24/7 access to advice from medical professionals, help locating nearby clinics, hospitals, dental providers, and pharmacies, and assistance obtaining replacement medications or medical supplies while traveling.
- Medical Assist is included with all ZOLEO service plans. On plans with a monthly message allowance, each Medical Assist message delivered by satellite counts toward that allowance. On plans with unlimited messaging, Medical Assist messages don't affect any limit.
- The service is available in all languages. Where necessary, Global Rescue may use a translation service, as with SOS.
Who Can Use Medical Assist?
Medical Assist is available to active ZOLEO subscribers only. You must have the ZOLEO App and be linked to a ZOLEO device with an active monthly plan.
Medical Assist is not available to app-only users and cannot be shared with contacts. When launching the feature for the first time, you will need to agree to the Medical Assist terms of use before accessing it.
What Does Medical Assist Look Like?
Medical Assist includes three components in the ZOLEO app:
- A predefined contact labelled Medical Assist - this contact will be displayed at the top of the contact list when composing a new message.
- A dedicated chat thread labelled Medical Assist - this chat will be displayed on the Chats tab of the ZOLEO App when a Medical Assist conversation has been started.
- A short discovery survey - fill in the short three (3) part survey to engage with Global Rescue and receive assistance.
How To Use Medical Assist
Follow these steps to submit a Medical Assist request:
- Create a new message by selecting the Medical Assist predefined contact or open the Medical Assist thread from the Chats list.
- Complete the short discovery survey by selecting the inquiry type: 1) Medical Advice, 2) Find a clinic, or 3) Replace medical supplies. Enter your age (this is optional), and briefly describe your issue or inquiry.
- Submit your request. Your Medical Assist inquiry and location coordinates will be forwarded to Global Rescue.
Note: Responses may take up to 10 minutes to be received.
Medical Assist Chat Sessions
- Medical Assist chats with Global Rescue automatically time out after 24 hours of inactivity. All chat history is retained after a session ends.
- To view previous conversations, select View Previous Chats from the Medical Assist home screen.
- Additional information about Medical Assist can be found by navigating to the Help section in the Settings menu of the ZOLEO app.
How To Test Medical Assist
If you'd like to test the Medical Assist feature before using it in the field, fill in the discovery survey and enter the keyword Test or This is a test in the problem description field. Global Rescue will confirm receipt within 15 minutes.
Note: Acknowledgment of test requests may exceed 15 minutes if Global Rescue is experiencing higher-than-usual volumes.
