This article explains how battery management works on your ZOLEO device and how different settings affect battery performance.
These instructions apply to both the ZOLEO 1000 and the ZOLEO 1500.
Sleep Mode and Message Check Interval
Your ZOLEO device uses a sleep mode to reduce unnecessary power consumption.
By default, the device checks for new messages every 12 minutes or whenever you send a message. After checking for messages, the device returns to sleep.
You can change how often your device checks for messages by adjusting the message check interval in the device settings. For more information, please refer to How To Change The Message Check Interval.
Message Check Interval and Battery Performance
The message check interval affects both battery usage and how quickly incoming messages are received.
The table below illustrates battery performance against the message check interval.
| Option | Battery usage | Receive message performance | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Always on | Worst | Best | Messages are received as soon as they are sent |
| Periodic - 12 mins | Check for messages every 12 minutes | ||
| Periodic - 24 mins | Check for messages every 24 minutes | ||
| Periodic - 60 mins | Check for messages every 60 minutes | ||
| Manual | Best | Worst |
Messages are only received when you: • request a message check or • send a message. |
Battery Warnings
Your ZOLEO device provides warnings to help you manage battery health and performance.
Low Battery Warning
When the battery charge drops below 10%:
- A warning symbol appears in the status bar of the ZOLEO app.
- The Power LED lights up amber.
- A descending tone is emitted at regular intervals.
If you plan to continue using your device, recharge the battery as soon as possible.
High Battery Temperature Warning
If the battery becomes too hot during charging:
- A warning symbol appears in the status bar of the ZOLEO app.
- The Power LED double-flashes red.
- Charging automatically stops.
Charging will resume once the battery temperature returns to a safe level.
