Storing your ZOLEO device correctly helps protect the battery and keeps it ready to perform when you need it most. Whether you're stepping away for a season or just setting it aside between trips, following these steps will help you get the most out of your device for years to come.
Please note: When you suspend your ZOLEO plan, your billing is prorated for the days remaining in your current billing cycle. You won't be charged for the full month — only for the days your plan was active before the suspension took effect. This is a good time to review How to Suspend Your ZOLEO Plan if you haven't already.
Preparing your ZOLEO device for storage
Before putting your ZOLEO device away, complete the following steps in order:
- Charge your device fully. Connect your ZOLEO device to its charger. The Power LED will light amber while charging and turn green when the battery is full. If the device is on, the LED will flash at regular intervals during charging.
- Choose a suitable storage location. Store your ZOLEO device in a dry, moisture-free environment, away from direct sunlight, at room temperature. Avoid areas with extreme heat or cold, such as a car glove compartment, garage, or outdoor shed.
- Power off and disconnect. Once fully charged, disconnect the device from the charger, turn it off, and place it in your chosen storage location.
Warning: Never store your ZOLEO device when the battery is fully discharged, and never leave it plugged into a charger during storage. Follow the steps above before putting it away.
Maintaining your ZOLEO device during storage
Caring for the battery during the off-season is just as important as caring for it during use. A battery that sits fully discharged for an extended period can lose capacity permanently.
- Charge every six months. Connect your ZOLEO device to its charger every six months, or sooner if needed, to keep the battery in good condition.
- Power off after charging. Once the battery is full, turn the device off before returning it to storage.
Understanding your billing while your plan is suspended
Suspending your ZOLEO plan affects your billing on a prorated basis — you're charged only for the days your plan was active in that billing cycle, not for the full month.
When you're ready to use your ZOLEO device again, reactivating your plan is straightforward. Keep in mind that reactivation also adjusts your billing on a prorated basis: you'll be charged for the remaining days in the billing cycle from the date your plan is restarted.
