Use your MyZOLEO account to add, change, or remove the SOS and Check-In contacts assigned to your ZOLEO device. You cannot manage assigned SOS or Check-In contacts in the ZOLEO App.
Saved contacts are managed from the Contacts & Groups page. To assign contacts to a specific ZOLEO device, go to Devices & Plans, select Manage, then select Assigned Contacts.
Important: Contacts saved in your MyZOLEO account don’t sync to the ZOLEO App. MyZOLEO contacts are used for SOS and Check-In assignments. Contacts in the ZOLEO App are imported from the contact list on your phone or tablet.

What Are ZOLEO SOS Contacts
ZOLEO SOS contacts are people emergency providers may contact during an SOS event if they need more information about your situation. For more information about SOS events, see What Happens During an SOS.
During activation, you add one contact, which can be assigned as an SOS contact, a Check-In contact, or both. After activation, you can assign up to two SOS contacts to your ZOLEO device.
Who Should Be a ZOLEO SOS Contact
Choose people who know your plans or location and can provide useful information to emergency services. Suitable SOS contacts include family members, close friends, or trusted colleagues. Avoid using third-party services as SOS contacts.
What Are ZOLEO Check-In Contacts
A ZOLEO Check-In contact receives the Check-In messages sent from your ZOLEO device. A Check-In message says, "I'm OK, here's my location," and includes a link to a map showing your current location.
You can send Check-In messages by SMS, email, both SMS and email, or through the ZOLEO App. You can also disable the location information included with standard Check-In messages.
During activation, the contact you add can be assigned as a Check-In contact. After activation, you can assign up to five Check-In contacts to your ZOLEO device.
A Check-In contact can also be assigned as an SOS contact. If you subscribe to Location Share+, eligible Check-In contacts can receive a breadcrumb trail of your location updates through the ZOLEO App.
How To Manage Contacts Saved to Your MyZOLEO Account
The Contacts & Groups page displays the contacts saved to your MyZOLEO account. Saving a contact doesn’t automatically assign that contact to a ZOLEO device.
- Log in to MyZOLEO.
- Select Contacts & Groups from the main navigation.
- Use the search bar or the SOS and Check-In filters to locate a contact.
- To add a contact, select Add contact, enter the contact’s details, then select Save.
- To update or delete a saved contact, select the appropriate option on the contact’s card.
You can also open the Contacts & Groups page by selecting Edit contacts from a ZOLEO device’s Assigned Contacts page.
To assign a saved contact to a device, go to Devices & Plans, select Manage for the device, then select Assigned Contacts.
Note: MyZOLEO contacts and ZOLEO App contacts are separate. Contacts saved in MyZOLEO don’t appear automatically in the ZOLEO App. The ZOLEO App imports contacts from the contact list on your phone or tablet.
How To Assign or Change Contacts on a ZOLEO Device
Assign a saved contact to your ZOLEO device to make that person an active SOS or Check-In contact. You can also replace an assigned contact from the same page.
- Log in to MyZOLEO, then select Devices & Plans.
- Locate the appropriate ZOLEO device and select Manage.
- Select Assigned Contacts.
- Assign the appropriate contacts:
- SOS contacts: Open a Name drop-down under SOS Contacts, then select a saved contact.
- Check-In contacts: Open a Name drop-down under Check-In and Location Share+ Contacts, select a saved contact, then select how the contact should receive Check-In messages from the Contact method drop-down.
- Select Save changes.
If the contact isn’t listed, select Edit contacts to open the Contacts & Groups page, where you can add a contact or update saved contact information. Return to the device’s Assigned Contacts page to complete the assignment.
How To Remove a Check-In Contact from a ZOLEO Device
You can remove a Check-In contact assignment when more than one contact is assigned to the ZOLEO device. Removing the assignment doesn’t delete the contact from your MyZOLEO account.
Log in at MyZOLEO, then select Devices & Plans:
- Locate the appropriate ZOLEO device and select Manage.
- Select Assigned Contacts.
- Under Check-In and Location Share+ Contacts, open the Name drop-down for the contact you want to remove.
- Select the X beside the assigned contact’s name.
- Select Save changes.
- Optional: Select Edit contacts if you also need to add a contact or update saved contact information on the Contacts & Groups page.

After you save, the contact is no longer assigned to the ZOLEO device but remains saved in your MyZOLEO account.
Note: If only one contact is assigned to the ZOLEO device, replace that contact instead of removing it.
How To Replace an SOS or Check-In Contact
Replace an assigned SOS or Check-In contact when you want another person to receive SOS calls or Check-In messages. The previous contact remains saved in your MyZOLEO account unless you delete it separately from the Contacts & Groups page.
Log in to MyZOLEO, then select Devices & Plans:
- Locate the appropriate ZOLEO device and select Manage.
- Select Assigned Contacts.
- Open the Name drop-down for the SOS or Check-In contact you want to replace.
- Select the replacement contact.
- Select Save changes.
- Optional: If the replacement contact isn’t listed, select Edit contacts to add the contact or update saved contact information. Return to the device’s Assigned Contacts page to complete the replacement.

For a Check-In contact, confirm the correct option in the Contact method drop-down before saving.
How To Ensure a Check-In Contact Receives Location Share+
Location Share+ allows eligible Check-In contacts to see a breadcrumb trail of your location updates through the ZOLEO App. Standard Check-In messages are delivered using the contact method selected in MyZOLEO.
For a Check-In contact to receive Location Share+ updates:
- The contact must be saved in your MyZOLEO account and assigned to your ZOLEO device as a Check-In contact.
- The phone number in the saved contact must match the phone number used for the contact’s ZOLEO App account.
- The contact method should be set to ZOLEO App.
To correct the saved contact information, select Contacts in your MyZOLEO account. To change the device assignment or contact method, go to Devices & Plans, select Manage for the device, then select Assigned Contacts.
