If you're thinking about stopping your ZOLEO service, you have two options: pause your plan temporarily or cancel it permanently. Understanding the difference can save you time and money if you want to use ZOLEO again.
Important notice for customers on legacy plans: If you're currently on a legacy ZOLEO plan (Basic, In Touch, or Unlimited), pausing or cancelling your plan will affect your pricing when you return. If you pause and later resume, or if you cancel and reactivate, you'll be moved to the current plan structure and won't be able to return to your legacy plan or pricing. If you'd like to understand your options before making any changes, please contact our Customer Experience Team at Contact Us.
Pause Your Plan — Come Back Anytime
Pausing your plan puts your service on hold for a small monthly fee. It's the right choice if you're between adventures — whether that's over the winter months, during a quiet season, or any time you know you won't need satellite coverage for a while.
When your plan is paused:
- Your dedicated ZOLEO SMS number and email address are kept on hold.
- You can resume service at any time with no reactivation fee and no new minimum term contract.
- A small monthly suspension fee applies to hold your account and number.
For current suspension fees in your region, see ZOLEO Monthly Plans.
Cancel Your Plan — Permanent Deactivation
Canceling ends your ZOLEO service immediately and permanently. This is the right choice only if you're certain you won't need ZOLEO again.
When you cancel:
- All billing stops immediately — there are no further charges.
- Your ZOLEO SMS number and email address are permanently released and cannot be recovered, even if you reactivate later.
- If you want to use ZOLEO again in the future, you'll need to go through the full reactivation process, which includes a one-time activation fee and a new minimum contract period.
Which Option Is Right for You?
| Pause | Cancel | |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly Fee | Small pause fee | None |
| SMS number and email | Kept on hold | Permanently lost |
| Resuming service | No reactivation fee, no new minimum term | One-time activation fee + 3-month minimum term |
| Best for | Taking a break, off-season storage | Certain you won't use ZOLEO again |
If there's any chance you'll use ZOLEO again, pausing is worth considering. The monthly pause fee is a fraction of the one-time reactivation fee you'd pay to start fresh, and you keep your SMS number and email address, which are permanently lost when you cancel.
How to Pause or Cancel
